Word is getting around that Sonoma County's public agencies are shutting down for 12 days...starting on Christmas Eve. This means, among many other things, that no residential real estate transactions will be recorded during that time because the recorder's office will only be handling land sales.
More info can be found at the county's website: http://www.sonoma-county.org/mto.htm
This leaves 8 days folks...for getting those deals done by the end of 2009! Yipes. Are other counties in the same mode?

Oh wow.....what a horrible thing for real estate. I have not hear this in our area, but will find out. I have 2 short sales that have to close before the end of December. Thanks for the heads up....I hope we aren't doing this.
Wow! It makes you wonder if they considered the impact this decision to close up shop for 12 day would have on "others" who rely on their services! Thanks for the heads-up Kirsten!
Looks like it's time for a little hustle. Good luck everyone!
Kirsten I called the recorders office this morning and they're open for business as usual. It won't effect any closings.
Hi Michael: Our broker just sent out another notice alerting agents in my office that there will be no recordings between 12/24 and 1/4. If you've got an update that changes this....please post here! Thanks.
